Easy to use to record pictures or video. Video of high quality even if converted to MPEG 2 format. Only concern is that the free editing software included is not real user friendly, but a free trial of a more advanced software is included.
It won't let you merge multiple clips. The camera takes great shots. But the software it comes with to convert that video in to a DVD it just awful. It's slow, proprietary and not at all intuitive. It really is bad enough to consider another camera.
This is my first handycam and I am very much impressed by its quality. This camcorder has excellent quality, very easy to use features and is very handy to use.Great still image quality.Very easy to install softwares but leaves a lot to be desired for video editing softwares which available only for a few days. The hard disk is enough for a long trip but the battery life does not compete with hard disk storage time.I am a starter in this field who wanted good quality and I am satisfied.
The image is great looking and so is the sound. The battery charges on the AC adapter and not while on the camera.3. The usability problems are the following:1. The AC adapter plugs into a port which is under the battery.so you have to pop the battery off to use AC power.2. The camera requires AC power to be connected when connecting to the computer.4. The menu navigation joystick is awkward(hard plastic with raised design and very short) and hurts the finger that is used to move it.This is not a con for JVC, but for HD: Make sure to have a recent graphics card that supports HD encoding/decoding, otherwise it will take hours to transfer the video, and it won't be watchable on the computer.
HI purchased this camera, great picture quality when light is good, also you need to move it slowly. AVCHD editing software needs to be purchased separately, overall all a lot of bang for the buck
